What is ROTK?
ROTK stands for Return of the King. It is an independent, non-commercial server emulator that makes the classic H1Z1 battle royale playable again, with its own servers, accounts and leaderboards.
Is ROTK free?
Yes. There is no paid access. You need the Z1 Battle Royale copy you already own on Steam, a ROTK account (sign in with Steam) and the free ROTK Launcher.
How do I play ROTK?
Sign in on rotk.app with Steam, generate your game key under Account settings, then download and install the ROTK Launcher and paste your key. It takes about three minutes. Our How to play page walks you through it.
Does ROTK change my Steam installation?
No. The launcher makes a separate ROTK folder and copies what it needs from your own Z1 Battle Royale install. Your official Steam install is never touched, and ROTK does not download or hand out H1Z1.
Which servers and regions are there?
Four regions: Europe, North America (Dallas), Asia (Singapore) and Oceania (Sydney). Pick the one closest to you for the lowest ping.
Which game modes can I play?
Solo and Duos battle royale, plus Combat Zone. The leaderboards track Solo and Duos per region and per season.
How does the ROTK leaderboard score work?
Your score is the sum of your 10 best games of the season. Each game scores points for placement, kills and assists, so one great game counts more than many average ones.
What is rotk.dev?
An unofficial community site with extra stats on top of rotk.app: players online per region, the best time to play, daily rank movement, full match history per player, head-to-head comparisons and shareable player cards.
